Realist or Dreamer?

Everyone always asks when i was younger; what do you want to be when you grow up?
My answer was always simple - I wanted to be a primary school teacher.
Me and my best friend always had a clear view of what we wanted to do, work at dog trust, run a dance school and teach.

Obviously that quickly faded as we grew older, the reality of it being we simply out grew our master plans. Although my best friend is still set on her childhood desire, I seemed to drifted to just not knowing what i wanted to do.

Of course thats fine, i didn't need to make decisions like that at 12, but now its come to that time when people are starting the ask the same question - what do you want to do? But this time it takes much more thought and planning.

As i am now in my last year of school, its all people seem to ask and want to know.
The only answer i can give is - "oh, I'm not sure yet..." but time is passing so quickly, soon i'd have finished school and be starting college in September embarking on A-Levels.

Some people are dreamers and shoot for the stars straight from the off. Being honest that they want to become a hollywood actor or a world renounced fashion designer.
It may not even be about careers; they are just so passionate about something they don't care what it takes for them to achieve it.
And when they do, there is nothing more rewarding.

Most are realists, believing that, that 1 in a million chance of it happening is just not enough  and that they need a stable, reliable source of income. Maybe some just don't have enough faith in themselves, or maybe some have lower dreams and expectations.

Some people are none of the above, I believe I’m both.

I’m a dreamer; I long to have a successful and for filling life, like most do.
Doing something i truly enjoy, live and travel to exotic places.
That i’ll go to work everyday loving what I do because I am a strong supporter of the phrase “do something you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”

But pretend I realist. Because i scared people won’t take me seriously. Because i afraid of failure or that people think I’m not capable or skilled enough. So i just pretend that I don’t want those things. Of course i have looked into other options, ones i’ll be more than happy with taking, but its not a dream.

So im a dreamer, I just won’t admit it.
what are you?

Monday 12 January 2015

This week; 4-11/1/15

The first week of the new year, in a nutshell, this is how i spent it;

  • I went for a casual stroll around the local park with my family (how idyllic that sounds aha),  it would have been much more enjoyable if i could have actually felt my fingers, but they were so cold I couldn't move them. But the world was set right as I grabbed a well deserved hot chocolate on the way home.

yum

  • I picked up a couple new books too, at £5 how could I not? As I love baking (just haven't quite managed to put it into great skill yet) I treated myself - well my dad treated me, ta pops, to The Hummingbird Bakery - "Home Sweet Home" book and The Great British Bake Off "Everyday" book. Both feature 100 recipes I hadn't seen before and I wait to have a crack at them. Although I am one who likes to see what my end result should look like and the "Everyday" book doesn't have photos for every recipe so thats a little upsetting, though I'm sure they'll taste great anyway.
  • I wasn't the only one either, my mum got the Hairy Bikers "Mums Know Best" cookbook, from which she cooked us the beeesssttt curry I'd ever had so ta very much ma...
  • I had not so much of a good time on Thursday as i had to get blood tests done. That is not a fun experience. not at all. The man who was doing it missed my vain on the first arm (apparently my vans are too flat?!?!) and he had to do it again on the other.
  •   I saw Taken 3 at the cinema Saturday evening and although I enjoyed it, it wasn't mind blowing. Obviously wasn't nearly as good as the first one but it was watchable and to be fair the ending wasn't all that predictable so... it was success to me.
  • After that we went to Wildwood the restaurant near where I live. We tried to get in somewhere near the cinema but I was so busy! I know it was a Saturday night and all but I've never seen it that busy. Anyway everywhere was packed and was like an hour wait so we just drove closer to home and went to Wildwood. I ordered the Peri-Peri chicken superfood salad, in case you were interested and it was delicious. Sadly I had no room for dessert as I scoffed a face full of pick 'n' mix before in the cinema.
  • I've got into ANOTHER new series this week, this time its Pretty Little Liars, again I'm very late the party, i always am, but I have fallen slightly obsessed with it. But I watch in the dark, it freaks me out.
  •  Lastly I attempted (and I mean ATTEMPTED) to make cake pops yesterday. They failed. Thats all I have to say. The set I got for christmas DID say not to be dis-heartened if they don't raise first go but... there go my dreams of being a baker... kidding.
Anyway that about sums up my week, add in a couple of hours at school and throw in a bit of homework and you've basically lived it too!!

see you soon

Back into Routine

As upsetting as it is to admit, christmas is over and the excitement of new year has pass us, therefore as we head in to the gloomy months of January and February, its time to head back into reality and start getting back into the route of things.

This came far to early this morning, when I apparent alarm went off at 6:23. However I didn't even hear it go off, I was woken to my panicked mother telling me to get up. Ahh, Monday mornings.

Considering I don't think I've seen before half 10 for about 13 days, my body clock is still adjusting to the sudden reality check as foolishly I decided not to go to bed relatively early Saturday night in order to be able to get up at the reasonable time of 8 yesterday morning. Instead, I stayed up until gone one in the morning watching my fix of Gossip Girl (which is actually on my list of 101 things in 1001 days which I posted a couple of days ago) therefore I didn't see daylight on Sunday until 12.

Anyway, despite my poor efforts to gradually win myself my bad habits of the christmas break I managed to somehow drag myself to school, one stress over a missing blazer later, this morning.
As much as I had been dreading starting school again today, I am looking forward to getting back into a route and a structured lifestyle.

The next few months is going to be a lot of getting my head down and getting on with it kinda thing, i have to prepare to sit my mocks at the start of February and then actually sit the real gcses in May. A lot of my time has to be dedicated to revision, and I've already had the first stress of making a revision timetable. Although there isn't going to be lot of spare time, relaxing is still important, or I know i'll burn myself out.

Lately I've become so lazy in finding other ways to relax other than grabbing my laptop and watching Netflix with a bowl of chocolate. However I'm hoping that because I'm now getting into a routine again, I'll give myself other ways to chill out, that don't make me just sit there and stare at a screen.

I missed reading a lot lately, and I'm hoping as the nights get colder its something I'll do more of now I'm back at school.
I struggle to find books I get along with, I have the attention span of a fish, so I get bored very easily so I often find myself reading half a book, putting it down and never picking it back up again.
I know this angers people, because it irritates myself, but i just find it really hard to get into a book.

Yesterday, I picked up the first Twilight book out the Twilight Saga series. I know I'm late to the party to this one but I've never really been that interested in reading or even watching any of the Twilight series. But after christmas I was low on films to watch so I decided at a friends request I would watch the first one. Well, I was completely hooked! I watched all five in three days! Productive christmas iI know... So when I saw the book yesterday I decided I'd give it my best shot to get stuck into it.
After reading just a couple of chapters, I already like it, and considering the first films my favourite, I kind of knew I would. But they say the book is always better than the film and from what I've read so far, thats defiantly proving to be the case.

101 things in 1001 days

This is something I have seen floating around recently and, me being the nosey person I am, have looked through countless lists of 101 things that other people want to do in 1001 days.
Considering we have just broke through the new year, I thought it is as good a time as any to write a list of my own.

Over the last couple of days I've come up with 101 things I would like to complete over the next 1001 days starting next Sunday.
I am truly excited to get cracking and see the number of things left to do go down, as well as being able to experience all these things that are, for now, just ideas on paper...
And hopefully i'll be able to share the experiences made here, on this blog.
